Leslie Knight With the City of Richmond Honored by League of California Cities

SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwire - February 4, 2010) - Richmond Assistant City Manager Leslie Knight was honored this week by the League of California Cities City Managers Department with its John H. Nail Award. Established to honor the memory of Former Monterey City Manager John H. Nail, the award is annually presented to a city employee who has made an outstanding contribution to city government.

Knight joined the city of Richmond in 2005 to help it through a very difficult financial crisis. As assistant city manager, Knight heads up the Human Resources Department and was instrumental in rebuilding the city's organizational structure.

Bill Lindsay, Richmond city manager, nominated his colleague for the prestigious award. "Ms. Knight recognizes the value of being an assistant city manager as a chosen profession and a career aspiration."

Established in 1898, the League of California Cities is a nonprofit statewide association that advocates for cities with the state and federal governments and provides education and training services to elected and appointed city officials.
