Libraries Can Now Get a Free Subscription for Vocabulary Builder VerbaLearn
Web-Based Service for Public Libraries Includes All Features in Paid Version; Intends to Help Low-Income Students and People Without a Computer Build Vocabulary

ACTON, MA--(Marketwire - December 18, 2009) - Public libraries can now offer all services on VerbaLearn.com, the website for building vocabulary,
to their patrons for free, VerbaLearn, Inc. announced.
With the new free library subscription from VerbaLearn, all patrons of
participating libraries get free use of the full-featured VerbaLearn Plus
version, which normally costs $19.99 per individual.
Up until recently, a one-year VerbaLearn library subscription ran as much
as $4,000, but Co-Founder James Potter said the firm decided to offer the
library subscription service for free so people who can't afford the $19.99
individual program -- VerbaLearn Plus -- or don't own a computer, can still
improve their vocabulary.
VerbaLearn helps students improve their SAT, GRE, ACT and ESL test scores
and also offers courses at the 7th through 12th grade reading levels.
All public libraries
in the United States are eligible for the free subscription service.

"It's a new way public libraries can expand the services they offer patrons
without spending a cent," said VerbaLearn Co-Founder Nathan Barr.
There is no software to install or drain on staff time because VerbaLearn,
http://www.verbalearn.com, is web-based and completely self-sufficient.
Libraries just need to sign up with VerbaLearn and let their patrons know
about the new service, according to Potter. Patrons can easily set up
their free account at the library or remotely.
VerbaLearn will never sell any patron information to a third party and
never ask for money from patrons. There is also no advertising on the
site.
Interactive Features Take Building Vocabulary to New Level
VerbaLearn's Web 2.0 features make learning vocabulary more fun and
effective. They include downloadable MP3 files for listening on an iPod or
a computer, online games, crossword puzzles, video flashcards, and print
flashcards. All tools are customized to the user's individual word lists.
VerbaLearn features courses developed by professors at leading universities
and an adaptive curriculum. VerbaLearn automatically creates a study list
so that users only review the words they don't already know. The study
list can be used with online quizzes, games, audio and virtual flashcards.
