Liquid Air Lab Acquires Finnish Smartphone Software Platform Specialist Rocket Science Oy

Liquid Air Lab Finalized Acquisition of Rocket Science Oy, One of the Leading Symbian, Windows Mobile and Linux Multimedia Software Developers in Finland

BERKELEY, CA and STUTTGART, GERMANY and TAMPERE, FINLAND--(Marketwire - October 23, 2007) -

Rocket Science, founded in 2002, developed the Poison framework which allows XML-based UI development on Symbian Series 60, UIQ, Windows Mobile and Linux platforms with just one codebase. In the Poison framework, the mobile operating system abstraction layer of the framework handles the OS differences, and enables development for different handsets without rewriting the application code. The Rocket Science team will now operate out of Tampere in the offices of Liquid Air Lab Finland Oy.

"We are proud to welcome all these great talents, and the intellectual property and patent portfolio of Rocket Science Oy to Liquid Air Lab," says Mikko Linnamäki, CEO of Liquid Air Lab. "This acquisition will strengthen the competitive advantage of our spodtronic mobile music platform for years to come. Today when more and more operating systems and smartphone models are being released, a platform like Poison is speeding up development and reliability in an exponential way."
