In the two years since becoming the winner of Canada's Next Top Model cycle two, Rebecca Hardy has learned a lot about herself, but also about the modelling industry.

Though misconceptions about the industry still exist, Rebecca takes her role as a fashion model and role model very seriously and personally strives to give new meaning to the term "model behaviour" in her everyday life.

"To me, model behaviour means being a positive role model to younger audiences and being real," says Rebecca. "It also means making choices for your physical, emotional and sexual health that suit you and your lifestyle."

Most of Rebecca's everyday choices are made to suit her busy schedule, including decisions about her exercise, diet and even what kind of birth control she uses.

Newly engaged, Rebecca and her soon-to-be husband are both busy with their careers so birth control is important to them. After talking to her doctor, Rebecca chose a product called NuvaRing(R), a convenient once-monthly option with the lowest dose of estrogen available, and it doesn't interfere with her weight. Rebecca also makes sure she maintains a balanced diet and tries to ride her bike whenever she can to stay in shape.

Since the show, Rebecca's life has changed for the better. She's proud to be part of the modelling industry and uses her experiences as an opportunity to speak to women about making decisions that work for them.

She says, "I think it's important to be grounded and self-respecting, and to stay true to who you are. Younger women want people to look up to and I hope that I can demonstrate how to be self-confident and successful by speaking to them about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, and making the right choices."
