Local Dallas Community Reaches Out to Help Improve Lives

Windsor Station Apartments, a Large Apartment Community in East Dallas, Is Doing Its Part to Help the Residents as Well as the Surrounding Community During Troubled Times

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - January 12, 2010) - One local community in the greater Dallas area has been working hard to improve not only the lives of their resident's but the greater community as well. The manager and staff of Windsor Station have been working closely with the North East Division of the Dallas Police Department and recently were awarded a Gold Star Certificate by the North East Division.

"The Dallas Police Department's Gold Star Certification Program is a voluntary new concept for crime prevention in rental communities. This new concept takes a multifaceted proactive approach to crime prevention. Using the crime free lease addendum and a certification process the Gold Star Certification Program is a cooperative effort between the Dallas Police Department, Apartment Association of Greater Dallas, along with owners, managers and residents of apartment communities to combat crime in those communities." -

In addition to becoming one of the first recipients of this award, Windsor Station has gone above-and-beyond the call of duty to not only protect their community but get involved with improving people's lives. Just before the holidays, Windsor Station hosted their quarterly "Crime Watch" committee meeting. In addition to providing a conduit for the community to dialog with the Dallas Police Department, Windsor Station's leasing manager, Nancy Banks, reached out to various other organizations that could help address some of the other community concerns.

To assist the many residents that have been downsized or experienced job loss, a representative from the U.S. Census Bureau was invited to give a first-hand account of the employment opportunities arising from the 2010 Census and allowed residents the opportunity to fill out job applications for the various openings that are being created.

In addition, a representative from Time Warner Cable was on hand to discuss ways in which the community could economically utilize cable service and inform residents how to avoid scams and cable theft.

During the holiday season Windsor Station became actively involved in collecting toys for needy children, through the Toys-for-Tots program as well as distributing Thanksgiving Dinners for families in the area through local resident food donations. Through these two volunteer programs the residents of Windsor Station were able to give back to needy families in their surrounding community.

All in all Windsor Station is working hard to improve the lives of their residents as well as reaching out to the community at large.
