Longfellow Benefits Helps Launch Holy Cross Emerging Technologies Group

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - November 5, 2007) - Longfellow Benefits, a Boston employee-benefits consulting firm, helped launch the Holy Cross Emerging Technologies Group (HCETG), which held its first meeting on November 5 at the University Club in Boston.

HCETG will work to strengthen ties among Holy Cross students, alumni and faculty who are interested in the technology and life sciences industries.

The group was cofounded by three alumni of the Worcester, Mass., college: Longfellow Benefits partner Craig Cerretani, Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP partner Larry Naughton, and Patrick Sansonetti, co-founder and vice president of Updatelogic.

"Many Holy Cross alumni and faculty play a key role in the state's emerging-technology companies, which are shaping the future of Massachusetts and the nation," Cerretani said. "There's a real opportunity for synergy amongst alums, faculty and, most importantly, students."

Longfellow Benefits, which provides advice and counsel to many tech and life science clients, cosponsored the event.

A distinguished panel of Holy Cross alumni discussed the current environment for venture capital funding. Professor David Chu, Ph.D., director of the Holy Cross Office of Entrepreneurial Studies and Pre-Business Program, was the keynoter.

The event attracted about 100. "Every seat was taken. The response has been nothing short of overwhelming! It was a fabulous opportunity to give back to this wonderful institution that has meant so much to so many," Cerretani said.
