Luxury Institute Survey: High Net-Worth Consumers Rank the Most Prestigious Gins: Bombay Sapphire, Tanqueray 10 and Boodles

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - December 4, 2007) - High net-worth consumers rated Bombay Sapphire the most prestigious gin in the 2008 Luxury Brand Status Index (LBSI) survey from the independent New York City-based Luxury Institute ( One respondent said Bombay Sapphire's "flavor is the most unique and clean of the gins mentioned in this survey." The brand had the highest score for all LBSI components and both outcome metrics. Tanqueray 10 and Boodles were ranked second and third, respectively.

"The Internet is becoming the channel of conversation between consumers and luxury firms, including the dialogue of ratings and reviews," said Milton Pedraza, CEO of the Luxury Institute. "It is clear, though, that individual ratings and reviews on the Internet will never replace the statistical representation of independent and impartial ratings surveys in helping luxury brands understand where they stand with prospects and customers. At the Luxury Institute, we strive to facilitate the dialogue between wealthy individuals, and through the use of representative panels of wealthy individuals, benefit the entire luxury goods and services industry."

Following are the 5 gins that were rated (in alphabetical order):

1. Bombay Sapphire
2. Boodles
3. Broker's
4. Plymouth
5. Tanqueray 10

The proprietary Luxury Brand Status Index (LBSI) survey is the only measure of the prestige of leading brands among wealthy Americans. A national sample of 1,760 wealthy American consumers, with an average income of $346K and average net worth of $3.8 million, was surveyed online. Survey results are weighted to match demographic and net-worth profiles of the same audience according to the latest Survey of Consumer Finances from The Federal Reserve.
