Luxury Institute Survey: High Net-Worth Consumers Rate Dom Perignon the Most Prestigious Champagne

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - January 15, 2008) - High net-worth consumers rated Dom Perignon the most prestigious champagne and sparkling wine in the 2008 Luxury Brand Status Index (LBSI) survey from the independent New York-based Luxury Institute ( Respondents who would recommend Dom Perignon say it is "timeless," is for "momentous and special occasions," and of "superior quality."

"No other beverage delivers timeless luxury heritage, quality and exclusivity like Champagne," said Milton Pedraza, CEO of the Luxury Institute. "Yet when it comes to rating the best of the best, we still live in the medieval era of so-called 'expert' raters."

"Our philosophy is that luxury consumers, as highly educated and discerning individuals who vote their pocketbooks, should rate the hierarchy of luxury brand status in every category," Pedraza added. "Our impartial surveys capture the 'voice of the high net-worth consumer' with independent, unbiased panels, and with results tabulated by independent, analytical experts. We strive continuously to reinforce the trust that allows us to facilitate a constructive dialogue between wealthy consumers and the luxury brands that wish to serve them."

Following are the 19 premium wine brands that were rated (alphabetical order):
