New POSIX Compliant Board Support Package (BSP) From LynuxWorks Allows Mil/Aero Customers to Develop DO-178B and ARINC 653 Certifiable Solutions

BOSTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 13, 2005 -- Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) -- For years, military customers have been eager to build safety critical applications using Intel's IA-32 architecture. However, no BSP from RTOS suppliers have offered IA-32 support for D0-178B certifiable solutions.

LynuxWorks™ changes all this today by announcing it is the first to offer a BSP that provides a complete, certifiable solution for mil/aero developers seeking to leverage the IA-32 platform. This new BSP will be demonstrated in Booth #1021 at the Embedded Systems Conference, taking place in Boston this week.

With the new board support package (BSP), the LynuxWorks' LynxOS®-178 hard real-time, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) operating system offers key features such as time and space partitioning, multi-process/multi-thread, open API's, large RAM support -- up to 1GB -- and C++ enhancements on the Intel IA-32 architecture.

In addition to featuring a DO-178B level A-certification, LynxOS-178 is also POSIX compliant and offers support for the ARINC 653 APlication EXecutive (APEX), making it an ideal standards-based solution for mil/aero developers seeking to build safety critical, certifiable applications on the Intel IA-32 platform.

A complete toolset including LynuxWorks Luminosity™, SpyKer™, and VisualLynux™ is available along with the LynxOS-178 BSP.
