MEDIA ADVISORY -- Georgetti in Trail today

Canadian Labour Congress President visits striking Teck Cominco workers today Attention: Assignment Editor, Business/Financial Editor, City Editor, News Editor, Photo Editor TRAIL, B.C.--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 9, 2005) - Canadian Labour Congress President Ken Georgetti will be in Trail, B.C. today to lend support to striking Teck Cominco workers.

Georgetti says it's time for Teck Cominco to return some of the favours it got from its workers and from British Columbia when times were tough.

"When times were tough, these workers made sacrifices and British Columbians invested their tax dollars in exchange for the good jobs this company produces. Times are pretty good for Teck Cominco now, so why shouldn't people expect their fair share of the success they helped make possible?" he asks.

Georgetti will be at the main plant gate at 10:30 a.m. to speak with picketing workers. He will be at the Union Hall in Trail (910 Portland St.) to comment after visiting picketers (between 11:15 and 11:30 a.m.).

The Canadian Labour Congress, the national voice of the labour movement, represents 3 million Canadian workers. The CLC brings together Canada's national and international unions along with the provincial and territorial federations of labour and 137 district labour councils. Web site:
