PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwire - December 16, 2009) - PetSmart Charities of Canada is preparing to celebrate an amazing milestone this holiday season: the 100,000th adoption from a PetSmart Charities Adoption Center in Canada.

WHO:     PetSmart Charities of Canada and "Calli," the representative of
         the 100,000th pet adopted in Canada, as well as Calli's new
         family, the Wigginses of Thornton, Ontario.

WHY:     To celebrate a milestone adoption this holiday season and shed
         light on how adoption can help end the tragedy of euthanasia.
         Each year in Canada, more than 400,000 unwanted dogs and cats
         must be put down because they cannot find homes. PetSmart
         Charities of Canada, Inc. is a registered charity that creates
         and supports programs that save the lives of homeless pets, raise
         awareness of companion animal-welfare issues, and promote healthy
         relationships between people and pets. Since 1999, PetSmart
         Charities of Canada has granted more than $1.7 million to
         animal-welfare agencies and, through its in-store pet adoption
