The BPM100 Broadcast Processor Modules Integrate MPEG-2 and H.264/AVC HD and SD Video Encoding With Audio and Complete System and Networking Support in a Single Cost-Effective Platform

MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwire - April 8, 2010) -  Magnum Semiconductor, leader in professional-grade media processors, announced today full support of H.264/AVC encoding on its Broadcast Processor Modules in addition to MPEG-2 support. The BPM100 modules (previously code-named Llama) are based on the Magnum DXTPro media processor delivering industry leading AVC/H.264 and MPEG-2 video quality as well as Dolby® Digital Pro®, Dolby® Digital CE®, HE-AAC, AAC-LC and MPEG-1 Layer II, and integrated Ethernet support for IPTV and Internet streaming applications. The BPM100 are specifically designed to target cost-sensitive broadcast, enterprise, campus and CDN encoder and transcoder applications. The completeness of the HD and SD platforms make designing encoder solutions literally a simple integration exercise by requiring only the addition of a simple user interface.

"The BPM100 are complete audio/video HD, SD and 1Seg encoder solutions, leveraging our extensive expertise in high-quality H.264/AVC and MPEG-2 video encoders and transcoders for the professional broadcast market with support for up to 1920x1080 resolutions, high-density SD encode of up to 4 SD streams on a single module, dual language audio support, video over IP as well as on-board PSIP and SI table multiplexing. The modules are ready to support HD and SD transcoding and compatible with the major broadcast standards, including ATSC, DVB, ARIB and ABNT," said Kishan Jainandunsing, Director Marketing Broadcast Solutions at Magnum Semiconductor.
