Major New Car Exhibition Launched at Beaulieu Attraction

HAMPSHIRE, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - July 24, 2009) -

Editors Note: There is a video and 3 photos associated with this Press Release.

The World of Top Gear exhibition is now showing at The National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, in the heart of the New Forest.

The new exhibition features a collection of the actual cars created by Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May for some of their most ambitious challenges on the TV show over the years.

Fans of the show will see vehicles from familiar challenges, such as the attempt to cross the Channel with home-made car/boats, and the Stretched Limo Challenge, where they set out to turn rusty second-hand cars into luxury stretched limos and chauffeured three celebrities to the BRIT Award.

Visitors to The World of Top Gear will also experience the Top Gear 'Enormodrome' which recreates the feel of the Top Gear studio, where the TV show is filmed in front of a live audience.

As well as regular features from the programme, including the 'Cool Wall' and the 'Celebrity Lap Times' boards, visitors can watch an exclusive video presentation from behind the scenes at the Top Gear HQ with Jeremy, Richard and James plus clips from the show featuring the cars on display.

The World of Top Gear can be seen as part of a visit to the whole Beaulieu attraction which this summer has many extra activities for all the family to enjoy(i).

Join the Victorian house party in the Palace House and meet both the house guests and 'below stairs' staff. There is music in the Lower Drawing Room and, outside on the lawns, Victorian games for the family and playlets to enjoy. See Veteran and Vintage cars as they motor around the grounds, stop the driver and learn about motoring in days gone by. Take care you don't get run over by the Victorian cyclist on his Penny Farthing.

Watch the Victorian gardener as he tends the Kitchen Garden and join him for a tour of the gardens. Meet Brother William, the Cistercian monk who strolls the pathways of Beaulieu's Abbey Cloisters, listen to his talks on the folk law of herbs and the monks who lived in the Abbey.

From Monday to Friday in the Cloisters, hear about the history of falconry and see some of these amazing birds in special flying demonstrations.

From 24th - 28th August young visitors can join the Army Commando Base, with a chance to dress up like real soldiers and take part in a patrol in full camouflage kit.

Other attractions include The National Motor Museum, with its collection of over 250 vehicles and its latest exhibition Jaguar Jamboree showcasing the iconic Jaguar marque. The James Bond Exhibition, features genuine cars and boats from the film.

Take a ride on the high level Monorail and the replica 1912 open top London Bus. Wheels - a space age pod takes you on a journey through 100 years of motoring history. If you want to get in the driving seat, put your foot down and take the chequered flag on the Go-Karts.(ii) Budding young drivers can take to the road on the Mini Car Driving Circuit.

If you don't get to do everything you want on your visit or want to see The World of Top Gear again, don't worry because your next visit, within a week, is free as part of the admission price(iii).
