Major Telecommunications Company Chooses CAST

Extensive Benefits Lead to Broad Deployment of Application Intelligence Platform

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - April 29, 2008) - CAST, the worldwide leader in Automated Application Intelligence, today announced that France Telecom is expanding its use of the CAST Application Intelligence Platform. The additional multi-million Euro investment in CAST technology will enable the company to enhance its application development and maintenance activity across a broad set of critical applications.

In 2006, France Telecom started a year-long program to enhance management of application development on several strategic systems. In the course of the program, IT executives were able to: Proactively improve the technical quality of the business critical applications; Quantify and monitor quality on a regular basis; and Insert technical quality metrics into outsourcing SLAs.

The CAST solution was implemented across more than 12 different technologies, including Java, Kabira, SQL, C, C++, Infranet, Webmethods, SAP, Oracle Applications, and Business Objects. Over time, CAST was rolled out to support the work of nearly 600 developers.

Currently, France Telecom has embarked on building a central "analysis factory" to support a larger set of critical business applications, comprising the work of more than 1500 developers. Combined with the need to enable a new SOA roadmap with a high-quality service repository, this provided the impetus for increased investment.

"We are very pleased that France Telecom joins the growing list of global telecommunications companies which are industrializing the management of their application development," said Ian Henderson, CAST's SVP of Worldwide Field Operations. "Over the past 18 months we have demonstrated the ability to provide key intelligence in support of teams and technologies across 20 separate projects."
