Mansfield Press Announces Overthrow of Harper Government

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 24, 2010) - Mansfield Press today announced the launch of Rogue Stimulus: The Stephen Harper Holiday Anthology for a Prorogued Parliament. When Prime Minister Stephen Harper prorogued Parliament on December 30, 2009, he punted many vital bills into oblivion. But he also inspired hundreds of poems after Mansfield Press announced this government-toppling anthology. This book gathers a range of responses—from outrage to slapstick—by acclaimed poets (including Canada's first Parliamentary Poet Laureate and several winners of the Governor General's Award for Poetry), previously unpublished poets and, to paraphrase Stephen Harper, ordinary working Canadians.

Mansfield Press will be launching Rogue Stimulus over the next week, including a protest and public reading on the steps of Parliament on February 27th. Editors Stephen Brockwell and Stuart Ross will be available for interviews at any time.
