Marshal Announces General Availability of Email Security Appliance

MailMarshal e10000 Provides Customers Best of Both Worlds by Combining the Flexibility of MailMarshal SMTP Software With the Convenience of an Appliance

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - October 8, 2007) - Secure email and Internet gateway security provider Marshal announced today the general availability of its new 'best of both worlds' security appliance MailMarshal e10000, which delivers its market-leading MailMarshal SMTP software on an appliance platform, providing customers flexibility of software and convenience of hardware.

A single function device with a hardened operating system, MailMarshal e10000 combines the ease of installation and low administration overhead of an appliance with the flexibility, scalability and depth of functionality of the MailMarshal software. The security appliance is the most recent product to be delivered as part of Marshal's multi-platform strategy, including Marshal's hosted email security solution MailMarshal Service Provider Edition, which enables SMEs to benefit from Marshal's enterprise-level software via service providers.

Built on the same platform and policy engine as MailMarshal SMTP software, MailMarshal e10000 provides full inbound and outbound content protection as well as defense against malware and other Internet attacks. This is ideal for companies that require comprehensive content security at the gateway perimeter but prefer the convenience of an appliance. More than just a point solution, MailMarshal e10000 delivers deep content inspection to tackle information security risks from spam, phishing, viruses, spyware, malware, pornography, DHA (Directory Harvesting Attack), DOS (Denial of Service attack), regulatory non-compliance and intellectual property theft.

Providing the same functionality, flexibility and performance of MailMarshal SMTP software, Marshal's security appliance is highly scalable from small business to very large enterprise deployments. In addition, MailMarshal e10000 offers the hardened security and ease of administration of an appliance with software flexibility and functionality, enabling customers to upgrade and respond to new security threats quickly and easily without the appliance becoming obsolete. To aid in administration, Marshal's array management technology permits system administrators to manage, add and auto-configure appliances across multiple locations from a central console.

"MailMarshal e10000 combines the flexibility of software that enables businesses to tackle the latest security threats quickly, packaged in a convenient appliance that can be centrally managed," said Bradley Anstis, director of Product Management at Marshal. "Our customers get the best of both worlds: the ease of installation and low administrative overhead of an appliance with a hardened operating system that can be upgraded to scale with their business. Existing customers can even mix and match with their current software-based MailMarshal installations."

Anstis added, "MailMarshal e10000 demonstrates our commitment to delivering on our multi-platform strategy, which will also include a Web security appliance. The appliance platform leverages Marshal's ten-year heritage of providing industry-proven software security products to the enterprise, while delivering this technology in a form factor to suit every size of business."

MailMarshal e10000 is a hardened inbound and outbound email processing platform that supports load balancing out of the box, and is also pre-configured with an integrated anti-virus scanner.
