Marz Homes to Offer Free Bullfrog Power™ to Homebuyers in 2010

Move signals growth in demand for green homes

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 27, 2010) - Marz Homes announced today that all of the homes it constructs and sells in 2010 will come with a unique upgrade: 100 per cent clean, renewable electricity from Bullfrog Power. Marz is the first builder/developer to provide Bullfrog Power's green electricity service as a buyer incentive, signaling an increasing demand from homebuyers for green homes

Under the terms of the incentive, Marz will pay the premium for greening the homes' electricity with Bullfrog Power for one year. Homeowners pay for the cost of conventional electricity and Bullfrog Power's generators inject clean, renewable electricity onto the regional grid to match the amount of power their homes use. This unique incentive aligns with Marz's own commitment to the environment—the organization chooses green electricity with Bullfrog Power for all of the electricity requirements of its head office, model homes and construction sites.

"Marz Homes is leading the way in residential real estate by anticipating the values and aspirations of today's eco-conscious homeowners," said Danny Gabriele, Vice President, Marz Homes. "Increasingly, living green is becoming a priority for many Canadians and our new bullfrogpowered Marz homes will help them get there."

In addition to bullfrogpowering its new homes, Marz Homes allows homebuyers to select sustainable building products such as VOC-free paint and cork floorings. All Marz job sites include a comprehensive materials recycling program.

"Bullfrog Power is proud to help Marz Homes build greener communities and we applaud their leadership in identifying an opportunity to better serve today's homebuyers," said Tom Heintzman, President, Bullfrog Power. "Together, Marz and Bullfrog are giving new homeowners the power to make choices that will help create a better world for the next generation, one house at a time."

More than 75 Marz Homes constructed and purchased in 2010 will qualify for the Bullfrog Power incentive, and they can be found in the following subdivisions currently in the construction phase:

  • Westbrooke Valley (Ancaster)
  • Southcote Woodlands (Ancaster)
  • Dewitt Orchards (Stoney Creek)
  • Windermere (Stoney Creek)
  • Aquamarine and Waterview Village (Stoney Creek)
