McClatchy Interactive Chooses Zvents, the Local Search Engine for Things to Do, to Power Its Entertainment Platform

SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwire - January 7, 2008) - McClatchy Interactive, the digital media division of the nation's 3rd largest newspaper company, has entered into an agreement with Zvents, the local search engine for things to do (http://www.zvents.com/), to power the online entertainment and event platform for McClatchy's newspaper website properties. The two companies have established a relationship that will allow McClatchy's websites to enable site users to discover, contribute, share, and promote events and sources of entertainment through Zvents' local search technology products.

Zvents will actively aggregate merchant and event information within cities served by McClatchy's newspaper websites, enabling users to conduct 'what, when, where' searches for events, restaurants, movies, performers, and other local activities using natural language search queries. Through Zvents, users will be able to review details of an event or venue, including date and time, ticket prices, descriptions, venue information, ratings, and mapped locations, as well as contribute their own content through reviews, comments, photos, and related links. Marketers seeking to prioritize local targeting with national coverage will also be able to list their businesses and events on McClatchy's websites using Zvents.

"We are proud that McClatchy Interactive has selected Zvents; a testament to the quality of our content, the comprehensiveness of our search capability, and our ability to provide a rich user experience," said Ethan Stock, Zvents CEO and co-founder. "This is yet another step towards empowering the newspaper industry with cutting edge local search capabilities and innovative advertising opportunities. We look forward to building a successful business relationship and helping McClatchy's readers discover things to do."
