McGuinty's Health Care Record: 142 Underserviced Communities

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 2, 2007) - Dalton McGuinty today promised more family doctors if he is re-elected. Of course, it's the same promise McGunity made four years ago:

"We will ensure there are more family doctors in communities across Ontario." - Liberal Party Platform, 2003, p. 12.

But when McGuinty boasts of his government's record, he neglects to mention that 142 Ontario communities are struggling with a severe shortage of general practitioners and family physicians - according to his own government's website.

FACT: In Northern Ontario, there are 38 communities designated as under-serviced including Thunder Bay, Sudbury and Kirkland Lake.

FACT: And in Southern Ontario, 104 communities have been designated as under-serviced including Oshawa, Welland and Windsor

Interestingly, McGuinty made his announcement today in Goderich, one of the few communities without a massive shortage of doctors.

After McGuinty broke his promise from 2003, can working families really trust McGuinty to deliver today?

Everyday Ontarians know the only way to make sure Dalton McGuinty doesn't let them down again is to vote NDP.
