MedLink Experiencing Increased Physician Interest Due to Subsidies and Incentives

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - January 21, 2010) - MedLink (OTCBB: MLKNA) announced today that it has seen a significant increase in demand over the past month since the announcement by The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) on the Interim Final Rule definition of 'meaningful use' of electronic health record technology. The Company announced that it has received initial agreements from Physicians that are seeking to act on the incentives contained in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 and available subsidies through Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIOs). Under ARRA, regulations are aimed at implementing the EHR incentive and providers will be reimbursed for demonstrating 'meaningful use' of an EMR system.

The Company detailed that it has received over the past month more than 85 requests for contracts from Physicians that have specifically decided to adopt due EHR technology due to current subsidies available from various Federal, State and Local programs.

Ray Vuono, CEO of MedLink, stated, "With overall incentives ranging from $44,000 to $65,000, our MedLink TotalOffice EHR offers Providers with a significant value proposition, as primarily we seek to serve the small office physicians community. Year one costs for the MedLink EHR generally range between $7,500 to $10,000, which amounts to less than half of the amount available to Providers under the incentive in the first year alone, ranging from $18,000 to $21,000 if they start the adoption process now. The TotalOffice EHR in addition to the inherent clinical value proposition presents practices with an almost immediate return on investment through the incentives that are available through the HITECH act. Compounded by 85% subsidies by RHIOs and Physicians service providers such as labs and imaging centers under the Stark exemption, and other quality reporting incentives it has created an almost 'perfect storm' for eligible providers to adopt the MedLink EHR for their practice. We see this trend continuing as more and more funding for electronic medical record adoption continues and more and more physicians see the benefit to going paperless."
