Media Advisory: April 28-National Day of Mourning for Killed and Injured Workers, CLC Executive V-P Marie Clarke Walker Will Be in Edmonton

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - April 26, 2010) - On Wednesday, April 28 Canadians will observe a National Day of Mourning in memory of workers killed or injured on the job. Canadian Labour Congress Executive Vice-President Marie Clarke Walker will participate in a locally organized event in Edmonton.

According to the most recent information available, 1,036 people lost their lives at work in 2008. In Alberta, 166 workers lost their lives in 2008 because of their jobs. Why is this being allowed to continue? Why are employers not being called to account? Clarke Walker will be available to the media to address these questions.
