Media Advisory: Barbara Byers Speaks at Public Forum on Retirement Security for All

Labour movement campaigns for pension reform

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 12, 2010) - Barbara Byers, Executive Vice-President of the Canadian Labour Congress, will speak at an Ottawa public forum on retirement security on Tuesday, February 16th. Don Sproule, President of Nortel Retirees Protection Canada, will also speak at the event.

The CLC and its affiliated unions launched a national campaign last fall to promote retirement security for all Canadians. The CLC is calling for a national summit to develop real pension solutions. Labour, retiree and community groups believe that an enhanced Canada Pension Plan must be the cornerstone of retirement security.

Byers will be available to the media following her participation in the event.
