Discussing CA Competitiveness Agenda for Ontario

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 3, 2007) - The Chair and President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario are highlighting the CA profession's Competitiveness Agenda for Ontario's financial and business sectors when they visit Hamilton District CA Association's annual reception on December 4. Chair Keith Farlinger, FCA, Toronto Region Managing Partner at BDO Dunwoody LLP, and Brian Hunt, FCA, the Institute's President and CEO, will provide background on how Ontario can remain competitive across the board, from Bay Street to Main Street, and meet the challenges of competing on the world stage. At the same meeting, successful local writer of the CA profession's annual UFE examination will also be honoured.

Among the competitiveness-related topics they can address are:

- Inter-provincial free trade agreements: Getting them right

- The need for nationally consistent public accounting standards

- How legal liability issues in the accounting industry are affecting businesses of all sizes and constraining economic growth.

Mr. Farlinger and Mr. Hunt can also speak on what the CA profession is doing to meet the growing demand for financial professionals in all business sectors.
