Media Advisory: CMA President Will Speak at Canadian Club of Edmonton, Wednesday May 17

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - May 15, 2006) - Canadian Medical Association (CMA) President, Dr. Ruth Collins-Nakai, will be the luncheon speaker at the Canadian Club of Edmonton on Wednesday, May 17 at the Chateau Lacombe, Edmonton.

Dr. Collins-Nakai, a pediatric and adult congenital cardiologist based in Edmonton, will speak about protecting the integrity of our publicly-funded health care system and most importantly why Canadians should care. She will illustrate how the CMA's 10-point, values-based checklist, can help Canadians and physicians actively assess new health care renewal proposals. Dr. Collins-Nakai contends this is now more important than ever as Canada's population ages and the management of chronic diseases threatens to elbow out all other health priorities in terms of resources.

Date: Wednesday, May 17, 2006
Speech at approx. 12:45 pm
Location: Salon A
Crowne Plaza
Chateau Lacombe
10111 Bellamy Hill
