Media Advisory: Canadian Operational Support Command Change of Command Ceremony

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 7, 2009) - Media are invited to attend the Canadian Operational Support Command Change of Command Ceremony that will take place on July 8, 2009. Major-General Mark McQuillan, previously Deputy Chief of Staff for the Materiel Group, will replace Major-General Daniel Benjamin as Commander Canadian Operational Support Command. Major-General Benjamin will soon assume the duties of Chief of Staff for the Assistant Deputy Minister (Infrastructure and Environment) and Chief Engineer of the Canadian Forces. The Chief of the Defence Staff, General Walt Natynczyk, will preside over the ceremony which will take place as follow:

- When: Wednesday, July 8 at 10:30 a.m.

- Where: Canadian War Museum, 1 Vimy Place, Ottawa

The Canadian Operational Support Command (CANOSCOM) delivers national-level operational support to Canadian Forces missions at home and abroad. This includes the full range of combat support and combat service support functions such as logistics, military engineering, health services and military police. Because the staff at CANOSCOM is responsible to support a military mission from start to finish, it plans, coordinates and executes operational support for theatre activation, and for the sustainment and termination of a mission
