OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 9, 2009) - Shortly after Statistics Canada releases its monthly Labour Force Survey on Friday, July 10, Canadian Labour Congress Senior Economist Sylvain Schetagne will be available by telephone to the media. There were 1.55 million unemployed men and women in Canada as of May 2009, and 406,000 of them have lost their jobs since October 2008. The unemployment rate in May rose to 8.4% - the highest in 11 years.
