Media Advisory: Governor General Attends a Citizenship Ceremony and the Noon Show on Canada Day

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 30, 2009) - On July 1, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will participate in a citizenship ceremony, followed by noon-hour celebrations on Parliament Hill, where she will be accompanied by His Excellency Jean-Daniel Lafond and their daughter, Marie-Eden.

Canadian Citizenship Ceremony at the Canada Aviation Museum

The Governor General, accompanied by her husband, will confer citizenship certificates to 100 new Canadians from 40 countries. In honour of the Canadian centennial of powered flight, the ceremony will be held at the Canada Aviation Museum (11 Aviation Parkway, Ottawa).

Canada Day Noon Show on Parliament Hill

Their Excellencies and Marie-Eden will join the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, and thousands of Canadians and visitors on Parliament Hill for the Noon show. The show will be broadcast live across the country on CBC, CBC Newsworld, Radio-Canada and RDI, beginning at 12 noon (EDT).
