Media Advisory: Governor General Presents the Canadian Journalism Foundation's Lifetime Achievement Award

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 5, 2009) - Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will present the 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Canadian Journalism Foundation's 12th annual awards gala. The event will take place at the Royal York Hotel, in Toronto, on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at 7:00 p.m.

During the evening, in front of Canada's top journalists, media executives, business and public sector leaders, the Governor General will present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Joe Schlesinger, a former reporter with CBC Television news. Mr. Schlesinger has reported from every part of the globe for the last four decades. The annual Lifetime Achievement Award was created to recognize individuals who have made an outstanding lifetime contribution to journalism.
