A new study to be released next week urges that local governments be permitted
to adopt a range of new taxes - including road tolls, fuel taxes, levies on non-residential parking spaces and motor vehicle registration fees - in order to fund their road and public transit systems, reduce traffic congestion and cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Commissioned by the Residential and Civil Construction Alliance of Ontario and
authored by Trent University Economics Professor Harry Kitchen, the study will be released:

WHEN: Monday, January 21, 2008
10:30 a.m.

WHERE: Media Studio
Main Legislative Building - First Floor
Queen's Park

Harry Kitchen will present the key findings and will be available for interviews.
