Media Advisory: Hassan Yussuff to Speak at Labour Day Event in Grand Falls-Windsor

CLC Secretary-Treasurer Available for Comments to Media

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 31, 2009) - Hassan Yussuff, CLC Secretary-Treasurer, will speak to workers and their families following a Labour Day parade in Grand Falls-Windsor on Monday, September 7th. He will also be available for comments to the media. The event is sponsored by the Central Newfoundland Labour Council.

Canadian workers have celebrated their achievements on this day since it was declared a national holiday in 1894, but given the economic crisis and continuing high levels of unemployment this year there is cause for concern. More than 1.5 million workers have lost their jobs and millions more have watched their pensions evaporate. The CLC is fighting for reforms to EI and for measures to protect and improve pensions. Unions can and do make a difference in peoples' lives.
