Media Advisory: His Excellency Jean-Daniel Lafond Will Hold an Extraordinary Art Matters Forum in Calgary During the High Performance Rodeo, to Which he Extends his Patronage

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 17, 2008) - The High Performance Rodeo festival will serve as a backdrop for the latest Art Matters forum, to be held in Calgary and hosted by His Excellency Jean-Daniel Lafond, with Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada, in attendance. This forum will take place on Saturday, January 19, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., at the EPCOR CENTRE's Big Secret Theatre, located at 225 8th Avenue SE, in Calgary.

During a round-table discussion, Mr. Lafond will explore the theme of "Art in an Economic Boom". He will be joined by Ms. Anthea Black, a Calgary artist and author; Ms. Jackie Flanagan, editor and founder of Alberta Views magazine: Mr. John Murrell, renowned Canadian playwright, whose work has been translated into 15 languages and produced around the world; and Mr. Jeffrey Spalding, CEO and president of the Glenbow Museum in Calgary.

The discussion will be led by Mr. Blake Brooker, co-artistic director of One Yellow Rabbit theatre. The public will be invited to participate in the forum and to share their thoughts and opinions. Internet users everywhere will also be able to contribute to the discussion in Calgary via the Citizen Voices Web site (www.citizenvoices.gg.ca). The public is invited to respond to Mr. Lafond's latest Citizen Voices blog entry, entitled "Imagining Calgary", now available on the site.
