Media Advisory: Laying Up Ceremony For Queen's Colour

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 19, 2009) - A laying up ceremony for the navy's previous Queen's Colour will be held at the Beechwood National Military Cemetery on Wednesday, October 21st at 1 p.m.

The Queen's Colour is a consecrated flag, and is a cherished symbol within the Navy. Having been proudly displayed for thirty years, the previous Queen's Colour was retired and replaced by the current Queen's Colour on June 27th, 2009.

Media are invited to cover the event and are asked to arrive no later than 12:45 p.m.

Details are as follows:

When: Wednesday, October 21st at 1 p.m.

Where: Beechwood National Military cemetery, 280 Beechwood Avenue

There will be a reception and brief media availability following the ceremony, during which the Commander of Maritime Command, Vice-Admiral McFadden will be available to answer questions from the media.
