Media Advisory/Library and Archives Canada: Lord and Lady Elgin to Attend Media Preview and Celebration of an Important Acquisition

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 23, 2008) - The past meets the present when the current Lord and Lady Elgin are special guests at a media preview to highlight the acquisition of historically significant documents and artifacts relative to the Lord Elgin Collection.

The media preview will be held on Friday, April 25, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at Library and Archives Canada, 395 Wellington Street, Ottawa. In addition to Lord and Lady Elgin, representatives from Library and Archives Canada and the Canadian Museum of Civilization will be available to explain the significance and history of the Lord Elgin Collection.

The media are also invited to a celebration to mark the long-standing relationship between the Elgin Family and Library and Archives Canada. This celebration will be held on Friday, April 25, 2008 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 395 Wellington Street, Ottawa. Librarian and Archivist of Canada, Ian E. Wilson, and Lord and Lady Elgin, as well as other notable dignitaries will be attending.
