What: Lockheed Martin will host an opening ceremony for its new
Atlantic Canada facility in Dartmouth, which will support the
combat system modernization of Canadian Navy's Halifax-class

Who: Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence,
executives and representatives from Lockheed Martin; senior
leaders from the Canadian Navy - Maritime Forces Atlantic;
Premier Darrell Dexter; business and community leaders

When: Friday, July 31 (10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. AST)

Where: Maritime Advanced Training and Test Site (MATTS)

Interview: The Honourable Peter MacKay, Premier Darrell Dexter and other
government officials, senior Navy personnel and Lockheed Martin

Background: Built principally to support Lockheed Martin Canada's role as
prime contractor for the Combat Systems Integration (CSI)
modernization effort on the Halifax-class frigate, the 100,000
sq. ft MATTS facility will host critical training systems,
simulation and testing labs, and a new Technology Collaboration
Centre, that will provide a near-at-sea environment for
Canadian businesses to test and develop solutions to meet the
needs of the Canadian Navy. It will be the permanent home of
Lockheed Martin Canada's Atlantic operations and will provide
the facilities and resources to allow the company to continue
and grow on its 25-year legacy as the Navy's combat systems
