Media Advisory: Minister of National Defence to Attend Halifax International Security Forum

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 20, 2009) - The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence and Minister for the Atlantic Gateway, will participate in the inaugural Halifax International Security Forum, November 20 to 22, 2009. The Forum, organized by the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF), will bring together approximately 300 world leaders, academics, policy makers, journalists, and business leaders for free-flowing discussions on defence and security issues of common interest.

On Saturday November 21, Minister MacKay will join Admiral Mark Fitzgerald, Commander of the United States Naval Forces Europe, Admiral Edouard Guillaud, Military Advisor to the President of France, and the Honourable Eimert van Middelkoop, Minister of Defence of the Netherlands, in a panel discussion on Pirates, Ports, and Proliferation: Securing the Seas.
