Media Advisory: Minister Thompson to Attend National Peacekeepers' Day Ceremony in Calgary

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Aug. 7, 2009) - The Honourable Greg Thomspon, Minister of Veterans Affairs, will attend the seventh annual Peacekeepers' Day Ceremony in Peacekeepers' Park, August 9, 2009.

Every year on August 9, those currently serving in peace support operations, those who have served, and those who have died serving are honoured through events and activities across Canada. Canadian peacekeepers help bring sustainable peace and security to countries devastated by conflict. Canada's armed forces, Canadian diplomats, the RCMP, provincial and municipal police forces and civilians all take part in peacekeeping efforts.
