Media Advisory: Minister of Veterans Affairs to Announce Campaign to Identify and Help Homeless Veterans in Montreal

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 23, 2009) - The Honourable Greg Thompson, Minister of Veterans Affairs, will launch an outreach campaign designed to identify and help any homeless Veterans in the Montreal area. The announcement will be made in conjunction with several community partners and members of the Operational Stress Injury Social Support (OSISS) program.

Veterans Affairs Canada is committed to reaching out to any Veterans who may be homeless or at risk of homelessness to get them the help they need. This initiative will help identify those who served their country and who are now in need of assistance.

Also in attendance will be Wayne Johnston, President of Wounded Warriors.ca; Ken Lewenza, President of the Canadian Auto Workers; Colonel (retired) Patrick Stogran, Veterans Ombudsman; Gerald Jean, Coordinator, Operational Stress Injury Social Support (OSISS) program; as well as several community partner organizations.
