Media Advisory: National Strategy Puts Information Access on the Agenda for People With Print Disabilities

What: Presentation of the progress report on equitable library access
for people with print disabilities

When: Wednesday, December 3, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Where: Auditorium Foyer, Library and Archives Canada
395 Wellington Street, Ottawa

The report on the Initiative for Equitable Library Access will outline the major accomplishments since the consultations and research undertaken with libraries, consumer groups, publishers and producers of alternate formats.

Keynote participants will include Ian E. Wilson, Librarian and Archivist of Canada, Euclid Herie, President of the World Braille Foundation, the Honourable James K. Hugessen, Deputy Judge of the Federal Court, Roch Carrier, Honorary Chair of the National Adult Literacy Database, and Jim Sanders, President of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB).

Representatives from Braille Jymico Inc., CNIB Ottawa, HumanWare, T-Base Communications Inc. and the Learning Disabilities Association of Canada will be on hand to provide information about the current services available to people with print disabilities.
