Media Advisory/Natural Resources Canada: Ceremony to Hand Over Autonomous Underwater Vehicles to Government of Canada

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 21, 2009) - On Tuesday, September 22, 2009, John Weston, Member of Parliament for West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country, on behalf of the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Natural Resources, will attend the handover ceremony of two unmanned submarines to Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). The vehicles will be used by scientists with NRCan's UNCLOS program to map the Arctic seabed in order to establish the limits of Canada's extended continental shelf. There will be an on-site demonstration of the vehicles in action.
