Media Advisory: Our Fallen Comrade Returns Home

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 24, 2010) - Our fallen comrade, Sergeant James Patrick MacNeil from 2 Combat Engineer Regiment, based in Petawawa, Ontario, returns home to Canada tomorrow.

Where: 8 Wing, Canadian Forces Base Trenton, Ontario.
When: Friday, June 25, 2010 at 2 p.m.
What: At the request of the family, media will be permitted on the tarmac.

Present to pay their respects will be the Minister of National Defence, The Honourable Peter MacKay, Chief of the Defence Staff, General Walt Natynczyk and other dignitaries.

Sergeant MacNeil was killed after an improvised explosive device detonated during a foot patrol, about 20 kilometres southwest of Kandahar City, in the Panjwa'i District, at approximately 8 a.m. Kandahar time on 21 June 2010.

Sergeant MacNeil was serving with 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment Battle Group.

As this is a solemn and formal occasion, all attending are requested to dress appropriately.
