Media Advisory: Parks Canada

HULL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 1, 2007) - Parks Canada and the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada invite you to a plaque unveiling ceremony commemorating the national historic significance of Canadian presence in Great Britain during the Second World War.

Great Britain was the principal base of overseas operations for the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), and the Canadian Army during the Second World War. Canada's moral and material contribution to what, in time, became an Allied cause is significant and can hardly be over-estimated.

Mr. James R. Wright, Canadian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, will represent the Government of Canada at the event.

Media are welcome to attend the plaque unveiling ceremony in London, England, on November 14.

Those interested should contact Parks Canada by email or fax (see coordinates below) by November 7. Media should fill in the registration form on our web site at www.pc.gc.ca and must hold a valid passport.

Media representatives are responsible for their own travel arrangements and expenses. Parks Canada will provide detailed information upon registration.

Please note that this advisory is subject to change without notice.
