Media Advisory and Photo Opportunity-Algonquin College’s Applied Research Day Continues to Build Momentum with Signing of Landmark Agreement

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 15, 2010) - A number of officials from Ontario's innovation and technology sectors will be on hand today as Algonquin College inks a licensing agreement with Ottawa's B-Con Engineering Inc.

The agreement allow B-Con the exclusive right to a new innovative optical lens that provides light over a large area more uniformly and intensely than existing technologies. The lens has a wide variety of applications, from illumination to medical diagnostics. It is anticipated that this technology could be used to enhance the efficiency and performance of street lamps to improve visibility and enhance the safety of pedestrians and drivers.

The signing ceremony is taking place as part of Algonquin's 8th annual Applied Research Day, which showcases more than 50 student and faculty initiatives from sectors such as the environment, information technology and healthcare.
