Media Advisory: Politicians, Youth and Child Advocates Hold Forum on the Senate's Call for Federal Government Action on Children's Rights

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 26, 2007) -

WHAT: Young people and children's advocates will engage politicians to
press for stronger government action on child rights in Canada.
Debate will focus on the upcoming government response to the
recommendations in a recent Senate report, entitled Children:
Silenced Citizens.

WHY: In June 2007, the Senate adopted a report, Children: The Silenced
Citizens, from its Human Rights Committee and requested a formal
response from the government. The report makes 24 recommendations to
bring Canada into compliance with our legal human rights obligations
and improve the status of Canadian children. The government must
respond to the report by mid November.
