Media Advisory: President & CEO of Suncor Energy to Address Economic Club

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 5, 2009) - Rick George, President and Chief Executive Officer of Suncor Energy, will address key questions and issues about Canada's place as a global energy producer in the coming century. Following the merger of Suncor and Petro-Canada earlier this year, Suncor has emerged as Canada's premier energy company, with operations and supply chain relationships in every region of the country. Suncor is the leading developer of Canada's oil sands as well as a Canadian leader in renewable energy. Mr. George will address the aspirations of Canadians in respect to the stewardship of our domestic energy resources, and the choices Canadians must make. He will discuss how Canada's oil sands are an important resource of vital interest to all Canadians, and how the new Suncor is positioned to compete effectively in developing it to its fullest potential. He will explore the growing need for a national energy strategy integrating economic, social and environmental values, and a framework to manage an increasingly complex domestic energy portfolio including fossil fuels, renewable, hydro, nuclear and other energy sources.
