Media Advisory/REMINDER: Georgetti Opens Major Pension Conference

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 1, 2007) - Ken Georgetti, President of the Canadian Labour Congress, delivers the opening address to the 3rd CLC Pension Conference this Thursday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m.

- How can we better protect the pension investments and retirement savings of today's workers from greedy business interests in the face of government disinterest and inadequate bankruptcy laws?

- How can we ensure the pension savings of workers are invested responsibly, so they don't undermine the future of those workers or work against the rights of others?

- How can we ensure more Canadians have access to better pension opportunities and reliable benefits that will be there when they need them?

The 3rd Canadian Labour Congress Pension Conference, held at the Ottawa Marriott Hotel over the following two days, is a major gathering of leading thinkers, managers and activists in the pension field. Close to 80% of all workplace pension plans negotiated in Canada today are negotiated by unions affiliated with the Canadian Labour Congress.

Georgetti's opening remarks are followed by a "Political Panel on Pensions" where Members of Parliament from all political parties will present and defend their plans to provide Canadians with better ways to save for retirement. Regretfully, the government party refuses to participate.
