Media Advisory: RMC Saint-Jean Obstacle Course

SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Sept. 1, 2009) - Media are invited to attend the traditional obstacle course on Friday 4 September from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Royal Military College Saint-Jean (RMCSJ), in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

Approximately 120 officer cadets will participate in this competition, which represents a rite of passage for the new cadets and formalizes their acceptance into the Cadet Wing at RMCSJ at the end of their Orientation Programme. For many officer cadets, the obstacle course constitutes one of the most memorable moments of their stay at the College.

Three squadrons will form 12 teams that will participate in this competition. Each squadron will start the course at the same time from a different obstacle. The obstacle course, which develops perseverance and esprit de corps in officer cadets, will be composed of 12 different obstacles built in part by senior officer cadets.

The Royal Military College Saint-Jean, which was reopened on 24 May 2008, provides a vital educational asset. Its reopening exemplifies a commitment to providing the best education and training for our Canadian Forces personnel.
