Media Advisory: Remembrance in the Age of the Web

QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Feb. 23, 2010) - The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Minister of State (Agriculture), is launching a brand-new feature of the Veterans Affairs Web site. "La force francophone" contains the recollections and personal archives of Francophone men and women who lived through the Second World War.

Five of the 82 participants who shared their recollections as part of this unique Web project will be present at the launch: the Honourable Gilles Lamontagne, Royal Canadian Air Force and former Lieutenant-Governor of Quebec; Jean-Luc Dutil, Canadian Merchant Navy; Rolande Fortin-Poulin, Royal Canadian Air Force Women's Division; Cécile Grimard-Masson, Canadian Women's Army Corps; and Jean-Paul Savary, Royal 22e Régiment.

Participants will be available for interviews at the event, and audio-visual material will be provided to journalists in attendance.
