Media Advisory: SANYO and AVACOS Solar Energy to Unveil Canada's First Solar Installation Using Bifacial PV Modules at DuROCK Alfacing International Headquarters in Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 3, 2009) - SANYO Canada Inc (SANYO), a "leading company for energy and environment," together with AVACOS Solar Energy, a Canadian solar photovoltaic installation and project integration company, will host a media event to unveil the first Canadian photovoltaic system combining SANYO's HIT® (Heterojunction with Intrinsic Thin-layer) Double bifacial PV modules and DuROCK Tio-Coat reflective roof membrane on Tuesday, December 15, at DuROCK Alfacing International Ltd.'s headquarters in Woodbridge.

AVACOS, the Canadian solar photovoltaic installation and project integration company that is managing the project, matched the complimenting technologies, which result in additional cost-saving and environmental benefits.

SANYO HIT® Double (PV) modules generate power from both sides, resulting in up to 30% higher energy output than standard single-sided PV modules. HIT® Double bifacial modules are ideal for carports, canopies, decks and porch coverings.

DuROCK's Tio-Coat is a high-strength white elastomeric urethane roof coating that provides 89% solar radiation reflectivity and weather resistance, reducing the energy usage required for the building compared to traditional roof coverings.

In the 10kw grid-tied array, the SANYO bifacial PV modules will provide renewable energy revenue for DuROCK, while the Tio-Coat membrane will reduce the cooling costs of the building. The combination of these technologies results in additional benefits, including improved performance of the PV modules due to Tio-Coat's cooling effect and increased energy production of the PV modules due to the high reflectivity of the roof membrane.
