Media Advisory: The Transportation Safety Board of Canada Will Hold a Media Availability to Release its Final Report into the Melina and Keith II Investigation

GATINEAU, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 9, 2007) - The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) will release, on October 11, 2007, its final report (M05N0072) into the September 12, 2005 capsizing of the small vessel Melina and Keith II. The report will be released on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 09:30 a.m. (Eastern Time) and spokespersons will be available for interviews in St. John's, Newfoundland. The Media Availability will start at 11:00 a.m. Newfoundland Time (9:30 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time).

Marine Investigator Captain Christopher Morrow and Captain Pierre Murray will be available for interviews beginning at 11:00.

The small fishing vessel Melina & Keith II, with eight persons on board, was hauling nets off Funk Island Bank, Newfoundland and Labrador. Four persons were rescued and the body of a deceased crew member was recovered; three crew members are missing and presumed drowned.

The TSB is an independent agency that investigates marine, pipeline, railway and aviation transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
