Media Advisory: Thunder Bay to "Jump Up" for Public Child Care

Media conference tomorrow to press City on child care and announce free concert Sunday

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 28, 2009) - The City of Thunder Bay will 'Jump Up' for public child care this weekend, a coalition of child care advocates will tell a news conference tomorrow, Thursday October 29.

The coalition of activists will announce a free community concert this coming Sunday, November 1, called "Jump Up for Public Child Care." As well, they will call on local politicians from all levels of government to reaffirm their support for quality, affordable and accessible child care.

The "Jump Up for Public Child Care" concert is a project of CUPE Ontario, the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care and the Ontario Federation of Labour. This free concert is family-friendly and non-partisan. It will feature Juno-nominated musician Chris McKhool, local author Jean Pendziwol, and treats for the kids. Sunday, November 1, 2:00-4:00 p.m., at West Thunder Community Centre, 915 South Edward Street, Thunder Bay.
